Something is wrong…

A site chronicling the formation of a Cape Cod Frosty fleet out of Beverly Massachusetts.

With a little help from some friends, the first boat starts to get stitched together!

It looks right, but something is off. The boat only measures 70″ long, and it should be 76″. Hmm… maybe it will expand overnight.

It’s starting to get cold, but I unfortunately do not have a garage or space in the basement to build. I do however have an enclosed tent, and $120 later, a Chinese diesel heater. 😉

The space is dog approved, but they need to go — I keep stepping on them.

What could go wrong?

4 sheets of 1/4″ Okoume from Boulter Plywood — enough for two boats. Nothing beats a perfect sheet of marine plywood.
(Pro-tip: twist the roof straps so they do not vibrate like crazy for 40 minutes.)

Frosty Fleet 9, the only active Cape Cod Frosty fleet, was kind enough to welcome us to come up and check out their boats. They even offered to let us take one for a spin if we had a dry suit. Little did I know that meant that I would sail and RACE (my first dinghy race actually). It was a blast. I stayed in the boat, and FF9 was super patient with a newbie!

After writing away to Tom Leach, the plans arrive! It turns out that the prices on http://www.capecodfrosty.org need to updated, so if you write for plans, add $10 to plans and to each sail number! I got three sail numbers so we have enough to technically start our own fleet.
