Schedule of Races

We aim to race every other week, so racers can also sail with Frosty Fleet #9. The schedule targets 12 races across the season.

Races start at either 11:00 AM or 1:00 PM, whichever is closer to high tide.

BYE weeks occur when both start times fall more than 4 hours from high tide, or when the tide can’t hold at least 3 ft for the full 2-hour race.

BYE OR [time] weeks have workable tidal conditions but default to BYE unless the conditions in that row’s Notes are met.

Season: Sunday, November 1, 2026 – Sunday, April 11, 2027

Scoring

FF16 uses a high-point scoring system: every finisher earns points for each boat they beat, so the winner of each race scores the most points.

Score for a race (Total number of racers) − (Finish position) + 1

In a race with 8 boats, 1st place scores 8 points, 2nd place scores 7, and so on down to last place, which always scores at least 1 point — no matter how many boats start, finishing last never scores 0. A boat that does not race (DNR) scores 0 points for that race, since it never finishes.

Each racer’s lowest-scoring 20% of races that season are dropped (rounded down to the nearest whole race). A racer’s season total is the sum of their remaining scores.

Example

Alex sails in 9 of a 10-race season and DNRs one race. Since 20% of 10 races is 2, Alex’s 2 lowest scores are dropped before the season total is added up — the DNR (0 points) is automatically one of them:

Race12345678910
Alex’s score 869 478 DNR (0)967
Season total 8 + 6 + 9 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 6 + 7 (races 4 and 7 dropped) 60

Alex’s DNR doesn’t hurt the season total at all here — it’s simply one of the two throwouts, alongside the other low score of 4.
