The first two boats in the fleet launched today!
Without a rescue boat on hand, the sail was short but successful. The fleet was christened with a blessing led by Rachael Abell, and a toast was raised by all that could attend. We look forward to launching the next three boats which will soon be off the workbench and in the water!
The founding members of the fleet all met thru Thursday night “Beer Can” racing out of Jubilee Yacht Club in Beverly, MA (https://www.jycracing.org). The completion of the first boat corresponded with the award banquet for the 2025 season, so we just had to bring it along to try and get more people interested — and I think we did!

Deck is attached got a 4oz fiberglass layer to help smooth it all out.
For sails, we ordered kits from https://www.sailrite.com — nicely prepared kits for a great price. The crew got together to tape them up, and our master sewist stitched them together (and even put in some windows).
We officially have 5 boats underway! Here are two of the furthest along and the fifth boat taking shape!
We plan to put together our sails using a kit from SailRite, but we still need sail numbers and the frosty logo for our sails. It turns out that my budget Acmer S1 laser engraver can perfectly cut insignia adhesive backed fabric!
